Measuring devices for hydrogen production, transmission and application systems
It is generally recognized that one of the most promising ways to solve the problem of climate change is the production and application of hydrogen.
By the middle of this century, hydrogen is predicted to be widely used in industry, transportation, electricity generation, heating and may also be used in steelmaking and elsewhere.
Hydrogen can be transported in gas systems (both transmission and distribution) as a mixture of natural gas and hydrogen, or gas systems can be converted to transport pure hydrogen. Gas transmission system operators in Europe and other continents are upgrading their infrastructure to be able to supply hydrogen or a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas through gas pipelines.
Hydrogen production facilities and hydrogen transmission systems require special measuring devices certified for hydrogen. In order to withstand the specific properties of hydrogen, such as penetration, the Swiss company Trafag has developed a special steel alloy for pressure sensors that come into contact with hydrogen. This specific steel alloy is compatible with hydrogen and has all the material properties necessary to create robust, accurate and long-term stable pressure sensors.
Auregis UAB offers pressure transducers NHT 8250 and EHI 8280 of Swiss company Trafag specially adapted for use in hydrogen systems. They use special metal alloys and are certified for use with hydrogen and have the relevant certificates.
